Training

Training is the key to a successful Scouting experience for both adult leaders and youth. It provides the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to lead, participate safely, and deliver quality programs. When leaders and Scouts are trained, units are stronger, adventures more rewarding, and youth are better prepared to grow in character, citizenship, and leadership.

Safeguarding Youth Training

Safeguarding Youth training is required for all Scouting America registered volunteers and is a joining requirement. Safeguarding Youth must be taken every year. If a volunteer's Safeguarding Youth training is not current at the time of annual registration renewal, the volunteer will not be re-registered.

Adult Position-Specific Training

Provides the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in one's role as an adult leader in unit and non-unit based positions. Completion of Safeguarding Youth Training and your Position-Specific Training is the measurement for being "trained" in Scouting America.

All Day/Multi-Day Training Opportunities

A two-component (online & in-person) training to qualify as a "trained" Cub Scout leader.

Training needed for all direct leaders registered in Scouts BSA Troops and Venturing Crews.

This is the day for anyone in Erie Shores Council to receive training for their specific position.

Required for those attending Scouting America High Adventure Bases.

Training to develop skilled leaders who strengthen Scouting units.

Provides youth with leadership skills and experience to apply within their troops.

Training Recertifications

Keeping Scouts safe and keeping Scout leaders up-to-date with current information and methods means some of the training courses need to be retaken every couple of years. Check with Erie Shores Council to confirm if a training needs to be renewed or not.
